
Eveline Herfkens, Founder of the
Millennium Development Goals and former Netherlands Minister for Development
Cooperation, will deliver a lecture
"The
Millennium Development Goals beyond 2015Ó at SAPIENZA University of Rome.

Eveline Herfkens has been a member of
various international advisory and coordinating groups focused on development
such as the ILO World Commission on the Social Dimension of Globalization
global level and the UN Commission on HIV/AIDS and Governance in Africa. The
event is part of the "Kapuscinski Lectures" initiative of the
European Commission, the United Nations Development Programme. Experts from
around the world deliver lectures on development and development cooperation at
universities and think-tanks across the European
Union. The series ÒKapuscinski LecturesÓ, and named after Ryszard Kapuscinski, a Polish reporter and writer who covered developing countries.
Ç É if we
respect the division of labour embedded in the Goals and if all countries
– both rich and poor – live up to the promises they made, and are
held to account for these promises by their own citizens and parliaments, weÕll
still be able to É achieve the Millennium Goals by 2015.È - said Eveline Herfkens ahead of the lecture.
