The doctorate will be aiming to promote qualified researchers education at both practical and theoretical level. The attendants will be qualified to deal with the different environmental issues, from large scale to urban furniture. In order to create such qualification different subjects mainly related to agronomy, ecology, landscape architecture and planning will be discussed.
Long term design and control of environmental transformations and above all their management are now central in order to achieve sustainable transformation of the city, the territory and the landscape at international level.
Specialized people able to achieve a global vision at both research and professional level are required.
The objective of the doctorate is post-degree education of researchers and the creation of an high level of competencies related to environmental transformation management particularly referred to environmental anthropic intervention at different levels able to check and link all various interdisciplinary aspects.
The project is innovative and experimental aiming at interidisciplinary integrations related to environmental compatibility and sustainability.
Each subject will be able to provide theoretical elements and share operative experiences.
Landscape, as material and immaterial system, will be the central point of the overall educational path as defined by European Landscape Convention 2005 which stated the application of the convention itself to the overall national territory.
As a consequences of this an interdisciplinary approach is required in order to guarantee environmental protection, planning and management.
The following issue will be discussed during the doctorate:
- Landscape and environment planning and management at territorial scale.
- Urban transformation referred to public spaces as the highest definition of urban sustainability (in the widest meaning prefigured by Alborg Chart) in order to create the means to control urban transformation at all different scales.
- Transformation of the all border and residual spaces of the city that constitute the connection and mixture between the city and the sub urban and agricultural territory.
- Agricultural territory planning, transformation and management. The doctorate will be dealing with planning contents and its methodology as well as innovative experiences also at international level. One of the main parts of the doctorate will involve research and operative study activates in collaboration with Local Communities and Administration in order to provide a realist operative context to researchers
The program of the doctorate will be divided in three different stages related to the corresponding doctorate years:
- During the first year doctorate attendants are all asked to research on territorial resources knowledge and increase of value; professors will provide lessons and seminars as well as scientific contribution on related subjects and experts will provide a general overview on the doctorate issues.
- Second year aims at the identification and development of individual research programs within the doctorate specialized issues. Experts will give their contribution through conferences.
- Third year will be completely focused on the final dissertation.
During the first two years planning activities will be:
1st year: collective attendance to international workshops;
2nd year: individual attendance to an International Competition agreed by course professors.
Every doctorate attendant will have a tutor who is going to give support throughout the different methodological levels whereas professors will be in charge of periodical tests on study advancement.
