Salvatore
Monaco, 1951. Laurea in 1974; associate professor, from 1983, full professor
in Systems Theory from 1986, University of Rome La Sapienza.
Visiting positions: french CNRS and University of Orsay, from 1983. His
research activity is in the field of Systems and Control Theory and applied
research in spacecraft control. Coordinator of national and international
projects. Co-authored nearly 140 scientific publication, about half published
in Journals or book’s chapter, 3 books, 1 patent. (1981-1982, Outstanding
Paper, IEEE Trans. on AC). He teaches
from 1979, promoting students’ mobility in Europe. Supervised nearly
25 PhD students and more then 200 theses for the “ Laurea ”
degree.
Member of the ASI (Italian Space Agency) Scientific Committee 1989-1995,
in the Executive Council of the European Union Control Association 1990-1997;
1997-2001, member of several ASI Technological Committees. From 1986 to
1989, he served as member of the Administrative Council of the University
of l'Aquila promoting technological transfer in the areas of Automation.
Scientific advisor for the Director of the Joint Research Center, European
Union, in 1995. From 2000, member of the Executive Council of “
NETTUNO ” - a consortium
coordinating multimedia and distance learning - .
From 2001, President of the Scientific Commeettee of the “Università
italo-francese”.
From 2001, Chairman of the Faculty Council which coordinates the formation in the area of Systems and Control. Beachelor degree in "Ingegneria Automatica e dei sistemi di
automazione" and Master degree in "Systems' Engineering".
From 2002, coordinates a Master
"post-laurea" in Engineering of the Emergency, in cooperation
with governmental institutions.
