This year, the Master in Headache Medicine is at its 7th cycle of life. It maintains a central role in education inside Lifting the Burden, which recently evolved from being a promotional cultural movement of WHO Global Campaign to Reduce the Burden of Headache Worldwide into an international independent association.
A special Thank You goes to Lifting the Burden and the European Headache Federation, which granted their patronage. But nothing would have been possible without the contribution of the entire panel of renowned scientists and expert clinicians who, during all this years, accepted my invitation and therefore the challenge to create a body of outstanding experts in the headache area. On behalf of all those who accomplished the Master’s Diploma in the past years, I express a deep gratitude. A small but concrete sign of their presence is witnessed at the bottom of this page.
The Master’s format has not changed. Educational offer consists of frontal lectures, seminars, discussions of clinical cases and attendance of outpatient and day hospital units. Audiovisual support available on a distance learning platform such as BlackBoard Academic Suite, allows to students a better understanding of the subjects treated. Clinical tutorship promotes the conversion of knowledge into competence, leading the Master’s students towards a complete decisional independence.
Online subscription to The Journal of Headache and Pain is available to students for the entire Academic Year.
The Regional Referral Headache Centre at Sant’Andrea Hospital in Rome constitutes the operations base for clinical activity.
According to custom, students who accomplished the Master’s Diploma in the past years are invited to attend, for free, the lectures they consider useful for a continuous update of their standard of excellence.
