The world of the young is
in throes of major and rapid changes, in attitudes, values and
lifestyles, characterised by a series of contradictions that reflect the
deep unease of many, as perceived at the macrosocial level. In the
current scenario that characterises most European countries, a period of
profound disorientations is unquestionably underway, concerning the
entire referential value system, The crisis of our schools, families,
the provisional nature and insecurity of labour, the prolonging of
adolescence, the risks inherent in the globalisation of the economy and
finances inevitably constitute an explosive mixture. The widespread
sensation of malaise among the younger generations, after all, has
always seemed to be the response to lacerations present within the
entire fabric of society and to the negligence of institutions, accused
of distancing themselves increasingly from the needs, demands and
requirements of civil society.
Investment in the future today is only possible on
a very long-term basis and involves taking a few risks for the younger
generations, in search of new social models, new forms of participation
and sense.
