| The IUTAM Symposium on Chaotic Dynamics and Control
of Systems and Processes in Mechanics is hosted by the Department
of Structural and Geotechnical Engineering of the University
of Rome "La Sapienza", Rome, Italy. |
| |
|
|
| It continues the tradition of earlier IUTAM Symposia
in the field of chaotic dynamics in mechanics (London, 1993;
Cornell, 1997), a research area which engages a large and active
community of scientists. Nowadays, the matter of control of
chaotic dynamics is becoming increasingly important, too. Accordingly,
this new Symposium in the series is aimed at diving deep both
into theory and applications to mechanics of nonlinear and,
mostly, chaotic dynamics, and into their control. |

|
| Venue |

The Symposium will be held at the School of Engineering of the
University of Rome "La Sapienza" from June 8th to 13th, 2003.
The School is located in the very centre of the city of Rome. |

| Participation |
| In keeping with IUTAM policy which aims
at promoting discussion among attendees, participation to the
Symposium is restricted to invited scientists. Their selection
is done by the Scientific Committee also based on the need for
an international balance and for the inclusion of a significant
number of young researchers. The overall plan for this Symposium
is of about 40 lectures, 20 posters and a total number of about
80 participants. Any further person wishing to participate to
the Symposium should contact Professor Giuseppe Rega, Chairman
of the Scientific Committee. |

|
| Proceedings |
| Kluwer Academic Publishers will publish the Proceedings
after the Symposium. |
