GENERAL INFORMATION

Participation
In keeping with IUTAM policy, participation to the symposium is by invitation only. All invitations are made by the Scientific Committee. People interested in attending the symposium should contact Professor Giuseppe Rega, Chairman of the symposium.

Symposium Venue
The symposium will be held at the School of Engineering of the University of Rome "La Sapienza", Via Eudossiana 18, 00184 Rome, Italy. The school is located in the very centre of Rome, close to the Colosseum.

Technical Program

The provisional technical program will include eight half-days of 41 lecture presentations and 12 poster presentations. The summaries of all accepted presentations will be published on this website after March 15, 2003. A booklet of abstracts will be available at the symposium.

Poster Preparation
See the Instructions for preparation of Posters.

Symposium Proceedings
Full papers of both lectures and poster presentations will be published, subject to positive review, as Symposium Proceedings by the Kluwer Academic Publishers, within 6 months after the symposium. The regular registration fee (but not the student fee) includes the cost of one copy of the proceedings; additional copies may be ordered at the conference rate. The final camera ready manuscript of the paper will be required at the meeting in Rome.

Preparation of Papers
See the relevant information.

Local Contact
A Local Organizing Committee is established. For information not found on this website, feel free to contact Dr. Francesco Romeo (francesco.romeo@uniroma1.it).

Registration
The regular fee includes registration packet, proceedings, lunches, coffee breaks, a reception, a banquet, and a half-day tour. The student registration fee, however, does not include the proceedings, the half-day tour, and the banquet. The registration fee for accompanying persons includes the reception, the half-day tour and the banquet. A further cultural event included in all fees is being organized.
Registration has to be made on-line.
Payment must be in the form of a bank transfer in euros. Participants will need to complete the registration form on the web, and mail/fax a copy of the official order number of the bank transfer to:

    Dr. Roberta Marzellotta
Dipartimento di Ingegneria Strutturale e Geotecnica
Via Eudossiana 18, 00184 Rome, Italy
    Fax: +39-06-4814548

The registration deadline is April 1, 2003.

Accommodations
Lodging reservation has to be made directly by the participants. A list of selected hotels, located in the neighbourhood of the symposium venue and applying reduced rates for the University of Rome "La Sapienza", is reported in the Accommodation section. When making reservation, ask for the reduced rate. Consider that june is a month with a high touristic request in Rome, so that there can be a limited number of available rooms in the reported hotels as well as in general. Thus, you are advised to arrange the accommodation at your earliest convenience.

Support for participation
All participants have to seek their own fundings for attending the symposium. Limited funds may be available to help those who are unable to obtain full reimbursement from other sources. In any case, no advance payments may be effected.

Transportation
See the relevant information.
