Why we are organizing another Course on Multivariate Analysis and Chemometrics? Because this was suggested by some participants of the two previous meetings, because we would like to present a different point of view with respect to the typical, great courses on the subject, because the first edition of The Course was a success. Moreover, taking into account that the school will be held just before the CMA4CH meeting, the participants will have the advantage of staying in a beautiful place, with qualified teachers at a really convenient price, as some of the cost can be folded on the two events.
Can you help us in disseminating information on the school? This is the mini-poster that you can hang in your bulletin board. Thanks for your great contribution.
Il Corso dura 4 giorni, dal 23 al 26 Maggio 2012, finira' cioe' il giorno prima dell'inizio del Meeting e il numero degli iscritti e' limitato a 15.
The "chemometry course for novices" will be held from the 23th to the 26th of May, finishing just one day before the Meeting starts, a maximum number of 15 participants is foreseen.
The Course will be held in one of the classroom of Rome University, the same location of the successive CMA4CH Meeting. The classroom will be equipped with 15 tables, each with a power supply (see technical page).
There is not the internet access in the classroom, but just close to the registration desk a PC with the internet connection will be available for students.
The course is mainly devoted to the neophytes of the matter even if the high level of teachers allows not only neophytes to gain benefits. Clearly, there is not an age limit to participate but the course organisation was thought mainly for young people, with reference to the registration price and the hotel accommodation (both on the program).
We recommend attendance to anyone who needs to process data from her/his research in the field of Cultural Heritage (relevant examples will be given during the course) and in the field of Environment.
Colleagues who are now ahead in their career have also realised that Multivariate Analysis is required to obtain pertinent and representative results. We find that many courses and schools are often too specialised or specific to a certain software or a single method. Our course, instead, is conceived in a different way.
If you would like to know more about definitions of Chemometrics, about what Chemometry is and about the value(s) of well established data set, please use the previous links.
The course is an introduction to Multivariate Analysis; it will be held by three of the major chemometricians of the world. It is devoted to young people and neophytes and it will be similar to your idea of a University lesson, with presentations, queries, replies, examples and so on. For both the room dimension and the need to better supervise the students we limited the number participants to 15. The main arguments are:
The professors of the course are surely among the best you can get for a school on Multivariate Analysis. For the first two days the teacher will be Riccardo Leardi, who is probably one of the most famous chemometricians with specialisation in experimental design and also a consultant for various International Companies. The third day the teacher will be Barry M. Wise, famous for his software company, for his participation in IUPAC projects, and for the large number of schools and courses he organises all over the world. The fourth day the teacher will be Richard G. Brereton, one of the most famous chemometricians, author of many books on the subject and expert for classification.
The idea of establishing a course for young scientists and neophytes that precedes the Meeting would not have been feasible without the help of the chemometricians named above. They are highly qualified experts on International level, who honoured me with their friendship and to whom I asked for help in the realisation of the course (G. Visco).
I believe that no young person or neophyte could find a course of similar level at this price and in such a beautiful location.
The teachers of the course agree with the idea that, at least for a neophyte, it is better to use Free or Open Source software through which the students will be able, hopefully, to study the algorithms and the coding.
In order to not disturb the International market of courses and schools, the number of participants is limited to 15, with the a minimum of 9, and the periodicity is biennial, always preceding the CMA4CH Meeting.
For us there are two type of participant: coming from Academy (or high school) already students or researchers or PhD candidates; or coming from Company, society, private holding or research institution.
If the money turns up in our bank before the 02 April 2012, the fee for participation is fixed for all participants at 410.00 Euro. After the deadline the cost is 450.00 Euro, paid in advance, for Academy and 650.00 Euro for Company.
To register, please contact the delegated Travel and Services agency. When the payment will be received the participant's name will be added to the bottom of this page. The course will start with 9 participants just up to 15, the order of payment will be the decisive participation criterion.

The organizing committee of the Meeting thanks the software house that provided the support for the establishment of a prize draw among all Course participants.
At present we have established the following prizes:
Before dealing with registration, some rules for the frequency of the course are outlined:
The Course Registration Form (MSWord 97, ~100 KBytes) is available, please download it, fill in it your data and send it to the delegated Travel and Services agency.
To better present themselves is recommended to fill the web-form to request information, please select course on bottom left. Probably the teachers need other information before the Course to setup the programs.
Each registered participant is asked to provide certain information, such as that on the bottom of this page. If you have questions about the Course, do not hesitate to .
We obtained a special price for Course participants in some Hotel around the University. Hotel booking is not mandatory, you are free to select any other hotel/hostel in every point of the city.
To book a room in the Hotel (as a Course participant) you must download the Course Booking Form (MSWord 97, ~100 KBytes). Please download it, fill in it your data and your request and send it to the delegated Travel and Services agency.
